Classical Sanskrit literature is divided into two classes as ṛśy屹ⲹ and Śⲹ屹ⲹ. A ṛśy屹ⲹ can be represented on the stage. It is also called ū貹첹. ū貹첹s are ten-fold such as: ṭa첹, ʰ첹ṇa, ṇa, Prahasana, Ḍi, ղDz, , īٳī, ṅk and Ī峾ṛg. The difference between these Categories lies in the treatment of the plot, the hero and the emotion (vastu Ա ٱṣām 岹첹).
Apart from these ten types, there are some other types of drama available in Sanskrit. Among them, the allegorical play known as ū貹첹ṭa첹 or ī첹ṭa첹 is very popular.
