Vasudeva was the rebirth of 笔谤补箩腻辫补迟颈 Kasyapa. Aditi and 厂耻谤补蝉腻, the wives of 碍补艣测补辫补 took birth as 顿别惫补办墨 and 搁辞丑颈峁嚹� respectively. (For details see under 碍补艣测补辫补).
Marriage and Family.
搁辞丑颈峁嚹�, the wife of Vasudeva, gave birth to 叠补濒补谤腻尘补, the fighter 厂腻谤补峁嘺, Durdhara, Dama, 笔颈峁囜笉腻谤补办补 and 惭补丑腻丑补苍耻. Of 顿别惫补办墨 who was also called 惭腻测腻 and Am膩v膩s墨, the younger son 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 and his beautiful sister 厂耻产丑补诲谤腻 were born. Vijaya, 搁辞肠补尘腻苍补, 痴补谤诲丑补尘腻苍补 and Devala were sons born by 鲍辫补诲别惫墨. The two sons 础驳腻惫补丑补 and Mandaga, otherwise called Angada were born of 痴峁沰补诲别惫墨. Revanta who could not be defeated in battle, was born from Saptam墨dev墨. The first son of Vasudeva was 碍补耻艣颈办补, whose birth was from a 痴补颈艣测补 woman called 艢raddh膩 Dev墨 when Vasudeva was travelling in the forest. Kapila, a mighty son was born by the queen 艢rutandhar膩. Saubhadra head of the archers and Abhava were born by his wife Jan膩. (Padma Pur膩峁嘺, P. 1314).
Other details.
(i) Vasudeva was the son of 艢奴谤补蝉别苍补, and the husband of 顿别惫补办墨, the father of 艢r墨 碍峁涐梗峁嘺, the brother of 碍耻苍迟墨, and the minister of Ugrasena. It was Vasudeva who sent the priest 碍补艣测补辫补 to 艢补迟补艣峁涐箙驳补 to perform the purification ceremonies such as naming etc. of the 笔腻峁囜笉补惫补蝉. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 膧诲颈 Parva, Chapter 123, D膩k峁峁嚹乼yap膩峁環a).
(ii) After the 叠丑腻谤补迟补-battle, Vasudeva asked 艢r墨 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 and learned from him the detailed news about the battle. (础艣惫补尘别诲丑补 Parva, Chapter 60).
(iii) Vasudeva fell into a swoon when he heard that 厂耻产丑补诲谤腻 had become unconscious. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 础艣惫补尘别诲丑补 Parva, Chapter 61, Stanza 5).
(iv) The ceremony of offering to the manes (艢谤腻诲诲丑补) of Abhimanyu was performed by Vasudeva. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 础艣惫补尘别诲丑补 Parva, Chapter 62, Stanza 1).
(v) When the 驰腻诲补惫补蝉 fought among themselves after drinking liquor, 艢r墨 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 went to 顿惫腻谤补办腻 and visited Vasudeva, and requested him to protect his wives who were awaiting Arjuna. Then after kissing the feet of Vasudeva, 艢r墨 碍峁涐梗峁嘺 and Balabhadra 搁腻尘补 went to do penance. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 Mausala Parva, Chapter 4, Stanza 8).
(vi) When the dynasty of 痴峁涐梗峁噄 was completely destroyed Vasudeva thinking about the Supreme soul in his heart forsook his body. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 Mausala Parva, Chapter 7, Stanza 15).
(vii) Arjuna performed the funeral rites of Vasudeva and aided his four wives to enter the funeral pyre. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 Mausala Parva, Chapter 7, Stanza 19).
(viii) Vasudeva entered heaven and took his place among 痴颈艣惫补诲别惫补蝉 (gods concerned with offering to the manes). (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 Svarg膩roha峁嘺 Parva, Chapter 5, Stanza 17).
(ix) The synonyms of Vasudeva, used in 惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 are 膧苍补办补诲耻苍诲耻产丑颈, 艢补耻谤颈, 艢奴raputra, 艢奴ras奴nu, 驰补诲奴诲惫补丑补 and so on.
