The Vratavivekapariccheda of the ҲṅgᲹ II is next to پٳ󾱱첹ṇa of the same work. Of this five important vratas have been taken here which acclaimed wide popularity in Indian context and glorifying 峾ū貹 since the days of ancient kings of Assam. The other vratas are proposed to be deal with in the next chapter in two heads considering their intrinsic merit.

Presently the following five vratas in alphabetic order are taken for discussion�

  1. śǰṣṭīٲ;
  2. 岵ٲ;
  3. ѲԲ貹ñīٲ;
  4. dzṇyṣṭīٲ;
  5. Śٰٲ;

Dāmodara Miśra, observing the practice and significance of the Vratas, has incorporated them in his digest ҲṅgᲹ II for deliberation. Accordingly, he tried to assert the codes from different sources for the performance of the Vratas. It is seen that, while deliberating the vratas he has neither arranged them according to the serial order of the month, nor 貹ṣa and tithi. Therefore, in this chapter an attempt has been made to arrange the vratas in an alphabetic order. All these five vratas mentioned above are very significant as well as important, which gives Kamarupa School of Dharmashastra a definite place in Indian context.
