Kasyapa or Marici Thrstuph Durga Jataveda Virat Tantrik mode : Rsi Vitta Devata Vaidik mode : Rsi Vitta Devata Agni It is the Vaidik Agnimantras that are prescribed to be used here. It may be mentioned here that these Mantras still retain their importance in Durgapujas. In subsequent Slokas, various Nyasastanas, Pithapujavidhis, Avahanavidhis, Dhyana, Sadanganyasavidhi, Ayudhabhusananyasa, Avaranapujas as well as Nirmalyadhari(Simhika) are provided in detail. are described. 168 It is stated that Sadanganyasa is to be performed by splitting the Mulamantra. Other Nyasavidhis are also dealt with in detail. Various Dhyanamantras are given for the same Murti. All Dhyanamantras stipulated for Vanadurga in Isanasivagurudeva-paddhati are different. For Purascarana, Mantradiksa may be received directly from the Guru followed by one lakh Japas along with Tila, Ghrta, HavisHoma, ten thousand times. Other detailed Pujavidhis like Pithapuja, Avahana, Avaranapuja and Saptamatrupuja are mandated. It is specified that Phalasiddhi in equal measure can be obtained by those lacking the wherewithal to conduct expensive Pujas, provided they perform Japadhyana consistently over a considerable length of time. For fulfilment of specific wishes, four lakh Japas and Homa with sali, Tila, Ghrta, Ksira and Havis are stipulated. Upasana on Mondays can grant Sarvakamyakarma. For Krurakarmas, the days suitable are Navamitithi or Caturdasi. To ensure Yudhavijaya, Homa with Tisnataila, Ghrta and Ksira, 10,000 times and Sampatasparsa may be done on Ayudha. Apart from the above, various other Viniyogas and Mantric rites are and explained. Svapna-durga This Devi is worshipped exclusively for Mantric purposes. The author states that once Mantrasiddhi is realized, the Devi will appear before the Sadhaka in his dreams. 171 For Vasya and Akarsana, the Devi may be conceived in red complexion, and for Marana, in the colour of raging fire; for Stambhana, yellow image is to be meditated upon; for Visaharana, Dhumravarna; for Mukti, white; and for Sarvakaryasiddhi, the recommendation is for the Devi in Syamavarna. Mahisamardini It is said that in Mahisamardini is present the power of all Devis and Devatas. The author next explains the Mulamantra, Chandas and Sadangamantra.172 368

It is stipulated that Puja should be done only under the strict guidance of a Guru. The venue for Puja has to be selected carefully, ensuring that it conforms to the one having all the required Laksanas. On such a venue, beginning with Puja for Dvarapalaka, Saparivarapuja is recommended. 174 Sulini Sulini assumes the very same Bhava as Durga. The initial Slokas provide the Mulamantra and Angamantras. 175 One lakh Japas are advised for Purascarana. All Pujas are as per ordinary Vidhis. first Slokas are provided the Mulamantra, Chandas, Sadanganyasa and Dhyana. 177 Homa with Tila and Ghrta one lakh times will ensure Vidyaprapti, Corasanti and Vyadhinasa.
