Cidgaganacandrika 295 [Mantradhva—hamsah-so'ham], English comparative study extracted from the two available commentaries—the Divyacakorika and the Kramaprakashika. The Cidgagana-candrika is an important Tantric work belonging to the Krama system of Kashmir Shaivism. Written by Kalidasa (Shrivatsa) in 312 Sanskrit verses, it deals with the knowledge regarding both the Macrocosmic and Microcosmic phenomena

Verse 295 [ѲԳٰ—ṃs�-so'ham]

अध्वभिर्ध्वनिविमिश्रणक्रममब्जबीजमनिकेतन� वरम् �
कल्पनैक्यबहुभेदमद्वय� मन्त्रपीठमसि काल्यनर्गलम् � २९� �adhvabhirdhvanivimiśraṇakramamabjabījamaniketana� varam |
kalpanaikyabahubhedamadvaya� mantraīṻmasi kālyanargalam || 295 ||

Śپ assumes the seat of Mantras by her free will. This seat consists of the Ṣaḍa�
In the 峦 the first is ղṇa; /Kalanasvabhāva is the first in 峦. Kalana is ṣe貹, ñԲ, ṅkԲ, Gati and 岹, which are capable of reducing the age of the universe in no time. These are the withrawing nature of Śپ.
ղṇas are classified as 50 or 51in ղԳٰśٰ, 63 or 64 in some other tantras. They are in the form of Dhvani and with their presence only the manifestation occurs. They are of two types�īᲹ and Yoni, (Svaras and ղⲹñᲹԲ). Their combination in various forms results in Krama and their divisions give rise to the state of Akrama.
Further this seat is said to indicate the 䲹ԻīᲹ (“sa�) which is also Śپ’s form[1]. Ś’s form “ha� and Śپ’s form “sa� are always inseperable and hence results the Ajapa japa mantra “so'ham-ṃsḥ”—which happens automatically in (“ṃsḥ”—exhale and inhale[2]) breathing. “so'ham� is the reverse order of breathing.
Śپ in her mantra form is the substratum of entire universe and hence she does not need an abode. She expands and withdraws the manifestation on the wall of herself with her freewill. Her mantra īṻ is the best and unique one without hassles. In the Բ the mantras and their practices are learnt from ٳūپ[3].
