Story of ū
A celebrated king of 䲹Իṃśa.
Genealogy.
Descending in order from վṣṇ are -Atri�Candra�Budha�ʳܰū�Āܲ�ṣa�۲پ�ū.
۲پ had two wives named Śṣṭ and ٱ𱹲ī. Śṣṭ gave birth to Druhyu, Anu and ū. ٱ𱹲ī gave birth to Yadu and Turvasu.
ū becomes king.
۲پ, ū’s father, was turned into an old man by a curse of Śܰ峦ⲹ. The king called all his sons to his side and requested each to take his old age and give him their youth. All the elder sons refused to do it but ū agreed to do so. Taking the youth of ū, his father, ۲پ lived a sensuous life for a thousand years. Then the king gave back ū his youth and crowned him as the heir apparent to his kingdom. (See under ٱ𱹲ī).
Other details.
(i) ū got of his wife ܲ alias Pauṣṭī three sons named Janamejaya (ʰī), Īś and 鲹ܻś. (Chapter 94, Ādi Parva).
(ii) After his death ū entered the court of Yama. Śǰ첹 8, Chapter 8, Parva).
(iii) ū along with Indra in the latter’s Vimāṇa witnessed the war between Arjuna and the Kauravas. (Śǰ첹 10, Chapter 56, վṭa Parva).
(iv) A king called Ի once defeated ū in a battle. (Śǰ첹 10, Chapter 62, ٰṇa Parva).
