श्लेषः � वाक्� एकस्मिन् यत्रानेकार्थता भवेत� � १०.९६cd �
śṣa� sa vākya ekasmin yatrānekārthatā bhavet || 10.96cd ||
When there is more than one meaning in one sentence, that is śṣa (one literal meaning applies to two things).
ekārthānām api śabdānā� yady anekārtha-vācitva� tadā śṣa�.
If words that have only one meaning are literally expressive of more than one thing, that is śṣa (artha-śṣa) (9.35-36).
