हर्ष-शोकाद्य्-आधिक्य� न्यू�-पदत्वं �. यथ�,
harṣa-śokādy-ādhikye ԲūԲ-padatva� ca. yathā,
The fault called ԲūԲ-pada (missing word) (7.60) is not a fault when there is great joy, or great sorrow, and so on. For example:
sa-smitā mṛga-śāvākṣ� gāḍham āliṅgitā mayā |
mā mā meti yad abrūta tan me kṛntati mānasam ||
Her eyes mimic the eyes of a fawn. She, who was smiling when I was deeply embracing her, said: “don’t, don’t, don’t…� That tears my heart. (adapted from 屹ⲹ-ś, verse 310)
atra pīḍayeti pada� nyūnam. tasya cānanda-magnatāpratyāyayatvād guṇatvam eva.
Here the verb “squeeze� is missing, and that is only a literary quality because it makes one perceive her absorption in great pleasure.
