Bābā—�! The letter you wrote to the Kolkata address dated 15/9/84 arrived on the date of 24/9/84. After a long delay, I received it while staying in Deoghar. I understand that you are worried because you have not received any letters from me for so long. �

There has hardly been any preaching on the Indian mainland. First preach on the mainland and glorify the contribution of the Indian Āⲹ sages and the speciality of their beautifully subtle philosophical tenets and conclusions. Then, later, cross the waters and endeavour to spread the light of those philosophical conclusions across the continents. �Charity begins at home.� Make the auspicious commencement of the dharma of charity from your own nation. Later, strive to spread its glory in foreign lands. First make your body healthy, later, all this preaching will be able to happen properly. With a healthy body, a healthy mind, and well-being of the soul, all is possible. So do not be negligent in this regard.

I am responding to your four questions as follows: (1) “The seventeen ʳܰṇa are part of the Ҳḍa ʳܰṇa.� Where did you get this from? Śī-岵ٲ Ѳ-ܰṇa is unbiased and independent and beautifully established in its own glory. It is wrong to compare it with other ʳܰṇa. Śī Nārāyaṇa first taught the ٳ�-śǰī of Śī-岵ٲ to the four-headed Brahmājī, and it is that which, in later times, Śī Ṛṣi taught to ṛṣṇa-屹ⲹԲ Vedavyāsa. The expansion of that is Śī-岵ٲm. It is not surprising that Ҳḍa ʳܰṇa mentions the verse �arthoⲹ� brahma-ūٰ峾�, which proclaims the glories of 岵ٲm. Śī Vedavyāsa, who is cognizant of past, present, and future, can make a reference of any scripture in any ʳܰṇa before noontime. Śī ձԳٲ-岹śԲ [󳾲-ūٰ] contains the opposition and refutation of Buddhism, Jainism (the Arhat doctrine), and other apa-dharmas. By this, is it to be assumed that the said doctrines are as ancient as ձԳٲ-岹śԲ? This [ձԳٲ] is the foregone conclusion of Śī ղ-deva, seer of past and present.

(2) That Śī Buddha-deva who is an incarnation of 󲹲 did not preach 屹岹

He appeared in the region of Ҳ, and Śī-岵ٲ [1.3.24] refers to Him as ñᲹԲ-ūٲ (the son of ñᲹԲ): 

बुद्धो नाम्नाञ्जन-सूतः कीकटेष�

buddho nāmnāñjana-ūٲ� kīkaṭeṣu () 󲹱ṣyپ 

“Buddha, known as the son of ñᲹԲ, will appear in Ҳ.�

He blasphemed the practices of ⲹñ and forbade the sacrifice of animals, preaching the policy of �ahiṃsā paramo 󲹰� –non-violence is the supreme religion�. And it was ٳ, or Gautama Buddha, who appeared in the town of Kapilāvastu in the foothills of the ᾱⲹ that preached śūԲⲹ岹 (nihilism). Āⲹ Śī Śṅk refuted his śūԲⲹ岹 and established 屹岹, even though 屹岹 and śūԲⲹ岹 are propagated for the same purpose. If you study the book Māyāvāder Jīvanī, you will know the particulars of śūԲⲹ岹 and 屹岹.

(3) No 󲹰첹 can advance in hari-bhajana by transgressing (etiquette). Śīman Ѳprabhu Himself conveyed the following: � laṅghana muĩ sahite na pā̃ro[1] –I cannot tolerate a transgression of etiquette.� Transgression of etiquette is also contrary to the �tṛṇād api sunīcena� verse taught by Śīman Ѳprabhu.

Doing so destroys ī-Բ岹-󲹰 (the religion of giving respect without the expectation of any in return) and creates obstacles in the performance of śī 󲹰峾-ṅkīٲԲ. If one cannot become initiated into ī-Բ岹-󲹰, the qualification to perform śī 峾-ṅkīٲԲ will not manifest. Hence, transgression of etiquette cheats one of the greatest limbs of 󲹲Բ [-ṅkīٲԲ].

(4) If you search the ٰ-ūī (List of Characters) in Śī Caitanya-峾ṛt and Śī Caitanya-bhāgavata, you will find out whether or not Śīla ṛṣṇadāsa ҴDz峾ī’s brother was Śyāmadāsa. You can also consult the book Śī Bhakti-ٲ첹. Śyāmadāsa’s name may also be in there. Śīla ī Prabhupāda has explained that the histories contained in Bhakti-ٲ첹 are not verified.

It is not implausible that the invocation in Gaura-ṣa岹-屹ī published by Gauḍīya Mission contains ṛt-ᾱ conceptions. They have ended up following in the footsteps of the ṛt-ᾱs. Rejecting the ideology and conclusions of Śīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhܰ and Śīla Prabhupāda, they ramble on as if they have five heads when glorifying the پ-Dz峾ī and various apa-. They are reluctant to accept the pure Gauḍīya 岵ٲ ܰ-貹貹 and regard Śī Ѳ峦ⲹ as the bona fide 峦ⲹ. In the introduction to the book Śī Hari峾-Գ峾ṇi published by Śī ձԳٲ Samiti, I have conveyed an in-depth refutation in this regard [of Gauḍīya Mission], which will be perfectly evident from a study of that book’s nivedana [which is similar to a preface]. [Also] get Bhakti-ٲ첹 from the library and look at its nivedana (Śīla Prabhupāda’s) [for more about its questionable histories].

I have answered your letter swiftly so as to enthuse you in your service. Surely once you receive this letter, there will remain no possibility of that enthusiasm subsiding. With great enthusiasm and patience, perform your services and engage others in service. Let the programme to preach in the Andamans be postponed for the time being. Make arrangements later when it is the right time and the right opportunity. Do not make a patchwork attempt to keep your body going. It is wanted that you get proper treatment and perform hari-bhajana with a healthy body. Try to grasp what I want to express in this letter.
