Source: Wisdom Library: Jainism痴腻濒耻峁卥补 (啶掂ぞ啶侧啶權啶�) refers to 鈥渃ucumber鈥�: a type of vegetable (艣腻办补), according to The 痴测腻办丑测腻辫谤补箩帽补辫迟颈 7.3.276. It can also be spelled like 痴腻濒耻峁僰补 and is also known by the name Kh墨r膩. Different kinds of vegetables were grown in the vegetable gardens (kaccha / 办补办峁). The consumption of vegetables was considered essential for digesting food according to the Ni艣墨thac奴r峁噄. The Jaina texts forbid the consumption of certain vegetables as it leads to killing of insects.
The 痴测腻办丑测腻辫谤补箩帽补辫迟颈, also known as the Bhagavat墨s奴tra contains a compilation of 36,000 questions answered by Mah膩v墨ra and dates to at least the 1st century A.D. The Ni艣墨thac奴r峁噄 by Jinad膩sa is a 7th century commentary on the Ni艣thas奴tra and deals with Jain medical knowledge.
