Lakuca (啶侧啷佮) is a Sanskrit word for Artocarpus lakoocha (monkey fruit), identified by various scholars in their translation of the 艢耻办谤补苍墨迟颈. This tree is mentioned as bearing good fruits. The King should plant such domestic plants in and near villages. He should nourish them by stoole of goats, sheep and cows, water as well as meat. Note: Phyllanthus distichus is a synonym of Phyllanthus acidus.

According to 艢耻办谤补苍墨迟颈 4.4.105-109: 鈥淭he trees (such as lakuca) are to be watered in the morning and evening in summer, every alternate day in winter, in the fifth part of the day (i.e., afternoon) in spring, never in the rainy season. If trees have their fruits destroyed, the pouring of cold water after being cooked together with Kulutha, 惭腻峁 (seeds), Mudga (pulse), Yava (barley) and Tila (oil seed) would lead to the growth of flowers and fruits. Growth of trees can be helped by the application of water with which fishes are washed and cleansed.鈥�

But we come across the specific names of them only in the later Sa峁僪ita and Br膩hma峁嘺 literature. [...] Caraka states that 谤腻驳补峁Ｄ佱笉补惫补 should be fumigated with oil and dry ginger and some salt and spices are to be added to it before use. Later in the medieval period text A峁ａ弓膩峁単asa峁単raha, of all the fruits, grapes were considered the best and lakuca the worst.
