Part 1.7 - Description of Kolasomon Puja
Kolasomon Puja is celebrated with two beliefs. One belief is in order to prevent evil spirits from entering the paddy field they perform this puja in the month of jeth in a particular day. They have the custom of roasting a duck alive and offer it along with rice items under a tree. Another belief is that if a person suffers from any ailment for a long period or when one is in a state of delusion or does not open his eyes or if a person drinks too much of water, all these can be healed by propitiating the Kolasomon God. They offer prasad, nimokh, tamul paan under a tree along with a small black hen in the name of the ailed person and then let the hen free by praying to Kolasomon debota to relieve him from his ailments.[1]
