Part 1.6 - Description of Jalkhai Puja
Jalkhai Puja is celebrated to satisfy the water God. They have the custom of conducting this puja in the bank of a river, pond or any other source of water. When the male folk perform this puja, they use a duck, vegetables, oil, salt and some use a hen instead of a duck. The duck is roasted when it’s alive and then it is offered to Jal debota and is kept under a tree.[1]
When the women folk perform this puja they offer pithaguri and lit a saki and offered to the water god. The oblation in then drifted away in water.
