RÄjayoga, JñÄnayoga, PraṇavapÄsanÄ and different stages of human consciousness. This very Upanisad observes "Yoga is the union of prÄṇa and apÄna, union between raijas (menstrual discharge) and retas (human semen) union between Sun and Moon (candra and surya nÄá¸i) in the body as well as the union between jivÄtmÄ and paramÄtmÄ (human soul and universal soul)". Mantrayoga, Layayoga, Hathayoga and RÄjayoga are the four phases and with coordination this is called caturvidyÄ (four knowledge) Yoga which is named as mahÄyoga. But where the human soul is throated as not different from God, then Yoga means realizations of one's own real self. Either way in order to achieve this end an absolute control over the mind is a sine que non, even though human endeavor has devised various methods (or paths) for the purpose. The process of achieving complete control over the mind may also be called Yoga. A life without a guiding philosophy is narrow and selfish producing intolerance, ignorance and prejudice. It is not a happy life. A purposeful intelligible meaningful life is one that is alert and active, ever, leafing and constantly growing. Man is also guided by fear and sorrow. Sorrow is the constant companion, while joy is an occasional visitor. Man is a creature of wants and his wants are unlimited. As a conscious being he desires and objects which can satisfy his needs. The desire can't be satisfies. But the religious and however can't stop at this point. He must face the question whether the existence of sorrow & permanent. The Upanisadic education must liberate man from the face of cow radices pettiness, greed, and hate sorrow mindless. The limits 'I' and 'you' mind create all problems which 308
