Long ago when I have gone through the 艢颈艣耻辫腻濒补惫补诲丑补 I noticed that to compose the poem poet 惭腻驳丑补 has used different political words like 惫颈箩颈驳墨峁�u, cara, 诲奴迟补, 补尘腻迟测补, kara etc. For a long time I have hankering to do something on this epic. In this thesis I have tried to discuss the different verses of the 艢颈艣耻辫腻濒补惫补诲丑补 in the light of 惭补苍耻蝉补峁僪颈迟腻 and the 础谤迟丑补艣腻蝉迟谤补 of 碍补耻峁璱濒测补.

The text of the 艢颈艣耻辫腻濒补惫补诲丑补 used by me for this dissertation is the edition of Haridas Siddantavagisha. Mainly I have consulted R.P. Kangle, T.G. Shastri editions of the 础谤迟丑补艣腻蝉迟谤补 of 碍补耻峁璱濒测补. I have consulted Manabendu Bandyopadhaya edition of the 惭补苍耻蝉补峁僪颈迟腻. 艢颈艣耻辫腻濒补惫补诲丑补 is an epic which is one of the 叠峁沨补迟迟谤补测墨. So it has an important place in Sanskrit epic literature. I was influenced by the book 艢颈艣耻辫腻濒补惫补诲丑补 k膩vyasam墨k峁Ｄ� of Bihnupada Dutta. So I have followed him sometimes in this work. I have taken English translation from Sitanath Kabyaratna and Pandit Madhab Das Sankhyatirtha edition. For 惭补苍耻蝉补峁僪颈迟腻 I have taken English translation from Ashokanath Shastri edition.
