[Full title: The Chandas employed in 惭耻诲谤腻谤腻办峁�a蝉补 (8). Vasantatilaka]

The definition of Vasantatilaka meter has been given by 骋补峁単腻诲腻蝉补 in his 颁丑补苍诲辞尘补帽箩补谤墨 补蝉:鈥�

箩帽别测补峁僾补蝉补苍迟补迟颈濒补办补峁僼补产丑补箩腻箩补驳补耻驳补岣�

This means that the Vasantatilaka meter is constituted with the 驳补峁嘺蝉, viz. ta, bha, ja, ja, ga and ga. Here, there are 14 syllables in a 辫腻诲补. It is been stated by 碍峁�e尘别苍诲谤补 that this meter is best suited in case of the admixture of two rasas namely 痴墨谤补 and Raudra.^[1] Our dramatist has used this meter in as many as 19 places. He has used this meter in delineating various rasas. Such as in II.6,8; V.7,16; VI.7,13 痴颈艣腻办丑补诲补迟迟补 has used Vasantatilaka describing 搁腻办峁�a蝉补 and Malayaketu鈥檚 pathos. In II.17 it is used in 痴墨谤补rasa while asserting the famous n墨ti艣loka, pr膩rabhyate na khalu etc. 痴颈艣腻办丑补诲补迟迟补 has used 艢峁涐箙驳腻谤补谤补蝉补 in only one place that is in III.9 and there also he has employed Vasantatilaka meter. But as said by 碍峁�e尘别苍诲谤补, its beauty has been enhanced a step farther when our dramatist has used this meter in exhibiting 颁腻峁嘺办测补鈥檚 wrath admixed with 痴墨谤补 and Raudra rasa such as in act-I. 8,10, 26 and so on.

After scanning the verse, it is found that the meter Vsantatilaka is used here, as, in every foot of this verse we got ta, bha, ja, ga and ga 驳补峁嘺蝉 .
