Commentary

Now begins the treatment of 󾱰첹ṇa (abode, location).

[Read verse 148 above]

[In the world, a thing can be called 󾱰첹ṇa (abode, location) in relation to an action, a quality or a substance. In grammar, a thing is so called when it helps in the accomplishment of the action by doing the service called ṇa = holding. Action is directly connected with the agent or the object. That which holds these two is called 󾱰첹ṇa. In other words, it helps in the accomplishment of the action only indirectly, through the agent or the object. By holding the agent or the object, as in kaṭe āste = he sits on the mat, sthālyā pacati = he cooks in the pot, a thing is called abode (󾱰첹ṇa).]
