Commentary
[The idea here is that though the qualities which accompany the smell are understood, they cannot be looked upon as the meaning of these two words. The 厂腻峁卥丑测补蝉 who look upon an object (substance) as nothing more than a combination of some qualities and not as an entity over and above them may hold that the words express the qualities. The 痴峁泃迟颈 is probably referring to them in its last sentence on this verse.]
