1. Then a bull called to Satyak膩ma, saying, 鈥極 Satyak膩ma!鈥� He replied, 鈥榊es, lord.鈥� [The bull then said:] 鈥榃e are now a thousand. Take us to the teacher鈥檚 house鈥�.
Word-for-word explanation:
Atha, then; ha enam 峁涐梗abha岣� abhyuv膩da iti, a bull called to him [Satyak膩ma] saying; 蝉补迟测补办腻尘补, O Satyak膩ma; bhagava岣� iti ha prati艣u艣r膩va, he replied, 鈥榊es, lord鈥�; pr膩pt膩岣� somya sahasram sma岣�, we are now a thousand; pr膩paya na岣� 膩c膩ryakulam, lead us to the teacher鈥檚 house.
Commentary:
痴腻测耻 (air) is the presiding deity of the quarters (the directions). Being pleased with Satyak膩ma for the way he fulfilled his promise to his teacher, 痴腻测耻 entered the body of a bull and spoke to Satyak膩ma in a very heavy voice. Satyak膩ma recognized the deity, and so he addressed him as 鈥榣ord.鈥�
