This is a constant feature of most of the old temples. The Navagrahas or the nine planets are intimately associated with our lives and destinies. Pleasing many of these powerful Grahas is considered important or they could have ill effects on you. Hence worship of Sani Bhagvan, Rahu and Ketu are all very common.
