The phrase यथालक्षणमप्रयुक्ते (ⲹٳṣaṇaܰٱ) is very often found in the Mahabhaasya as a general guiding remark that noun-forms or wordforms which are not found in use in the language of the people or in literature should be understood as they are derived by observing all the rules that are applicable.
