վ (विचर्चिक�) refers to “dry and weeping eczema� and is one of the various diseases mentioned in the 15th-century Yogasārasaṅgraha (Yogasara-saṅgraha) by Vāsudeva: an unpublished Keralite work representing an Ayurvedic compendium of medicinal recipes. The Yogasārasaṃgraha [mentioning ] deals with entire recipes in the route of administration, and thus deals with the knowledge of pharmacy (󲹾ṣaⲹ-첹貹) which is a branch of pharmacology (ⲹṇa).

վ (विचर्चिक�) or վcikitsā is the name of a section of the Gaurīkāñcalikātantra (i.e., “Gauri Kanchalika Tantra�): an ancient Sanskrit Shaiva Tantra framed as a dialogue between the God (Śiva) and the Goddess (Śivā). The text deals with spiritual and medical herbalism such as the treatment of fever and diseases in the form of Kalpas, commonly known in Āܰ岹 as “remedies� or “antidotes�. The Gaurīkāñcalikā-tantra further deals with a variety of harvesting techniques and rules for optimal efficiency in collecting herbs while respecting and preserving the natural environment.

The symptomatology of is similar with eczema that is, 첹ṇḍ (excessive itching), īḍi (boil/pustule/vesicle), ś屹 (discoloration/hyper pigmentation), ܲ屹 (profuse oozing) and later (marked linings/lichenification/Criss-cross marking), ruja (pain) and ūṣa (excessive dryness).

վ has been mentioned in Ayurvedic classics under kṣudra kuṣtha and also under kṣudra roga. According to Āܰ岹, Rakta duṣti is one of the prime causes of skin diseases and among the śodhana karma; bloodletting is considered as the best treatment for skin diseases.
