The former authority states that in this aspect, the image of 艢iva and Um膩 should be seated on a seat, embracing each other. 艢iva should have the 箩补峁乵补办耻峁璦 on his head with the crescent moon stuck in it; he should have two arms, in the right one of which there should be a 苍墨濒辞迟辫补濒补 flower and the left one should be placed in embrace on the left shoulder of Um膩. Um膩dev墨 should have a handsome bust and hip; she should have her right hand thrown in embrace on the right shoulder of 艢iva and should keep in her left hand a mirror. The figures of 艢iva and Um膩 should be sculptured very beautifully.
The R奴pama峁囜笉ana informs us that 艢iva should have four arms and that in one of the right hands there should be the 迟谤颈艣奴濒补 and in the other a 尘腻迟耻濒耻峁単补 fruit (a kind of citron); one of the left arms should be thrown on the shoulder of Um膩 and there should be a snake in the other left hand. The colour of 艢iva should be red like the coral. The Dev墨 should be as in the description of the Vi峁ａ箛udharmottara given above. There should be in this group the V峁涐梗abha or the bull of 艢iva, Ga峁噀艣a, Kum膩ra and a lean emaciated figure of the 峁涐梗颈 Bh峁涐箙gi dancing, all arranged in an artistic composition.
