: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English Translation¸é³Ü±è²â²¹±ô¾±á¹…g²¹ (रà¥à¤ªà¥à¤¯à¤²à¤¿à¤™à¥à¤—) or Raupyaliá¹…ga refers to a “liá¹…ga made of silverâ€�, according to the ÅšivapurÄṇa 2.1.12, where the Devas and Viṣṇu requested ViÅ›vakarman for liá¹…gas for the achievement of the desires of all people:—“[...] at our bidding ViÅ›vakarmÄ made liá¹…gas and gave them to the devas according to their status. [...] The ViÅ›vedevas and the Vasus took silver liá¹…gas (¸é³Ü±è²â²¹±ô¾±á¹…g²¹). O sage, the AÅ›vini devas took the brazen and earthen liá¹…gas. [...] Thus different kinds of liá¹…gas were given to them by ViÅ›vakarmÄ which the devas and the celestial sages worship regularly. After giving the devas the various liá¹…gas from a desire for their benefit, Viṣṇu explained the mode of worship of Åšiva to me, BrahmÄâ€�.
