Shaivism (Shaiva philosophy)
: Shodhganga: Iconographical representations of Śivaś (निश्वासकारिक) or śgama refers to one of ܱ岵 (supplementary scriptures) of the ś岵 which is one of the twenty-eight Գ岵: a classification of the Śaiva division of Ś岵. The Ś岵 represent the wisdom that has come down from lord Śiva, received by Pārvatī and accepted by Viṣṇu. The purpose of revealing ܱ岵 (e.g., Niśvāsa-kārikā Āgama) is to explain more elaborately than that of ū岵 (e.g., Niśvāsa-āgama) and to include any new idea if not dealt in ū岵.

Shaiva (शै, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
