: Shodhganga: The significance of the m奴la-beras (history)Kallazhagar Temple in Madurai represents a sacred place for the worship of Vi峁ａ箛u.鈥擳he Kallalakar (Kallazhagar) Temple in Madurai is one of the famous temples of Vi峁ａ箛u. As the devotee enters the temple, he/she finds at the left corner of the entrance the image of 笔补迟颈苍别峁弓腻尘辫补峁弓i (eighteen villages) Karuppas膩mi. Karuppas膩mi is considered the guardian god of the village and the temple. The devotee enters the temple and moves in the outer 辫谤补丑腻谤补. The sannidhi of Solaimalai N膩ciy膩r is seen in a corner, the sannidhi of 艢r墨n墨v膩sa and Narasi峁僪a in another corner and the sannidhi of Vi艣vakse峁nar in one corner.
