: WorldCat: Rāj nighaṇṭuṛd貹ٰ (गृध्रपत्रा) is another name for ٳū貹ٰ, a medicinal plant identified with Nicotiana tabacum Linn. or “cultivated tobacco� from the Solanaceae or “nightshades� family of flowering plants, according to verse 5.34-35 of the 13th-century Raj Nighantu or Rājanighaṇṭu. The fifth chapter (貹貹ṭād-) of this book enumerates sixty varieties of smaller plants (ṣu-ṣu貹). Together with the names ṛd貹ٰ and ٳū貹ٰ, there are a total of eight Sanskrit synonyms identified for this plant.
