A »å´Çá¹£a is a basic component of life. The compound Avalambakapitta is composed of the words Avalambaka (‘hanging downâ€) and Kapha (‘fluid principleâ€). These terms are used throughout Ayurvedic literature such as the °ä²¹°ù²¹°ì²¹-²õ²¹á¹ƒh¾±³ÙÄå and the ³§³ÜÅ›°ù³Ü³Ù²¹-²õ²¹á¹ƒh¾±³ÙÄå. Ä€yurveda is India’s classical science of medicine.
: Cogprints: Concepts of Human Physiology in AyurvedaAvalaṃbaka Kapha:—Situated in the thorax, ‘Avalaṃbaka Kaphaâ€ protects the ‘Trikaâ€ and other vital structures like heart, through what is called ‘Aṃbukarmaâ€. Other anatomical sites where other types of ‘Kaphaâ€ are situated also are dependent on this (Aá¹£á¹Äá¹…gahá¹›dayasaṃhitÄ SÅ«trasthÄna 12/15-16). ‘Trikaâ€ region indicates the meeting point of three bones. As this is present in thorax, it must be indicating the junction between the sternum and clavicles, behind which, the thymus gland is situated. ‘Aṃbuâ€ means liquid or water. So, ‘Aṃbukarmaâ€ must be referring to lymphatic drainage.
