Source: Wisdom Library: Jainism础苍耻尘补迟颈迟测腻驳补辫谤补迟颈尘腻 (啶呧え啷佮ぎ啶むた啶む啶ぞ啶椸お啷嵿ぐ啶むた啶ぞ) or simply Anumatity膩ga represents the tenth of eleven 辫谤补迟颈尘腻 (stages) laid down for Jain laymen. 础苍耻尘补迟颈迟测腻驳补辫谤补迟颈尘腻 refers to 鈥渋ncreasing the rigour of living in the direction of asceticism and refraining even from giving advice on matters relating to family honour, business and the like鈥� according to J. L. Jaini in his 鈥渙utlines of Jainism鈥� (pp. 67-70).
These 辫谤补迟颈尘腻s (e.g., anumatity膩ga-辫谤补迟颈尘腻) form a series of duties and performances, the standard and duration of which rises periodically and which finally culminates in an attitude resembling monkhood. Thus the 辫谤补迟颈尘腻s rise by degrees and every stage includes all the virtues practised in those preceeding it. The conception of eleven 辫谤补迟颈尘腻s appears to be the best way of exhibiting the rules of conduct prescribved for the Jaina laymen.
