µþ²¹³¦°ì²µ°ù´Ç³Ü²Ô»å:ÌýJasmine (jatipushpa) is considered as saumanasya janaka (pleasure giving) because of its positive effect on manas which intern is due to its pleasant aroma. Charaka samhita has described pleasant odour and it has good influence on manas. Jatipushpa is having pleasant odour, by which manas moves towards the state of calmness, intern alleviates psychological disorders.
°¿²úÂá±ð³¦³Ù¾±±¹±ð²õ:ÌýTo assess the effect of jasmine essential oil in the management of generalized anxiety disorder.
²Ñ±ð³Ù³ó´Ç»å²õ:ÌýThe pilot clinical study was outlined with a clinical trial design with Purposive sampling method with pre and post- test assessment of 30 patients satisfying the inclusion criteria who were incidentally selected. In the present study patients were asked the inhale jasmine essential oil for 5 minutes, for the duration of 10 days. The patients were assessed based on the Hamilton's anxiety rating scale before and after intervention, analyzed statistically using descriptive statistics, paired samples’t test, contingency co-efficient test / χ 2test using SPSS for windows (version 18.0).
¸é±ð²õ³Ü±ô³Ù²õ:ÌýThe results of anxiety grading before and after treatment are highly significant with P Value (0.001). The mean value of pretest score was 25.00 and post Test it was reduced to 9.97. The overall change in the Anxiety levels is Statistically Significant.
°ä´Ç²Ô³¦±ô³Ü²õ¾±´Ç²Ô:ÌýOn the basis of the results of this study it can be concluded that Inhalation of jasmine essential oil brings down the elevated state of mind. Thus essential oil of jasmine is a safe and effective drug of choice in generalized anxiety disorder.
