Mahavira in jainism is the twenty-fourth Tirthankara (Jina) and one of the 63 illustrious beings or worthy persons.

Part 3: Incarnation as a god
At the end he performed the rite of propitiation (), recalled the formula of homage to the Five and after death became a god in Saudharma for the duration of a palyopama.[1]
