(Bedi means ties with a chain). 67 This Hanumāna is very famous in the kṣetra. The local people say it as Dariyā Mahāvir. The temple of Bedi-Hanumāna consists of two structures such as vimāna and jagamohana (Pl.No-25). It is built in both sand stones and bricks. Both these structures are erected on the circular platform of 4 feet high. From the architectural point of view, this temple is not so important. The temple faces to east. Art And Architecture of the temple:- Vimāna.- The vimana of the temple is a piḍhã deuḷa and its height is about 25 feet from the surface of the road level. The base of the bāḍa is square of 12 ½ feet. The bāḍa of the vimāna is pancānga type i.e. having five fold divisions such as pābhāga, taḷa jāngha, bandhanā, upper jāngha and baranda. All the component parts of the bāḍa are completely undecorated. The central niches of the three sides of the bāḍa are housed with pārsvadevatā images of Ganesa, devī Anjanā and Arnapurnā. Ganeśa is the pārsvadevata of the southern side. The two handed image of Ganesa has been installed on the plain pedestal. He displays abhaya mudrā in right hand and a pot containing laḍus in left hand. Devī Anjanā is the pārsvadevata of the western side. The two armed devi has been installed on the plain pedestal. She possesses usual attributes in her hands. Devī Arnapurnā is the pārsvadevata of the northern side. The two armed image of devi Arnapurnā has been installed on the plain pedestal. She displays abhaya mudra in right hand and varada mudrā in left hand. The background slab of deviis decorated with trefoil arch. The bada of the vimāna is surmounted by the pyramidal superstructure, which consists of three flat shaped piḍhās and each piḍhā is decorated with tänkus in all sides. Dopichhā lions and Deuḷa Cāriṇ� figures are completely absent in their respective places. The mastaka of the vimana consists of usual elements of Orissan piḍhā deuḷa. Here the ayudha is cakra. The sanctum preserves image of Bedi-Hanumāna as the presiding deity of the temple. The deity is about 6 feet in height. The two handed image of Hanumāna is installed on the double petalled lotus pedestal. He holds gadā (mace) in right hand and huge rock (i.e. Gandhamārdana parvata) in left hand 315
