Devaradiyars

Devadasi[1] formed a unique class of employees in the temples of South India. During the medieval period dancing girls held a high place in the society. They entertained the public in all festivals of social importance with their dance and music.[2] This system was called Devadasi.[3] They distinguished themselves by their exemplary skill in music and dancing in the temples and in royal courts.[4]
