Part 3.2 - Changes in the Calendrical festivals
The calendrical festivals are celebrated by both the tribal group of people with distinct custom. The groups of people who have taken initiation in the Vaishnavism celebrate the calendrical festivals like Sri Sri Sankardeva Tithi, Madhabdeva Tithi. They have given up their age-old tradition and culture and follow the religious trend of Vaishnavism. The other festivals like Janmastami, Republic Day, Durga Puja, Independence Day are celebrated by the Sonowal Kacharis.
The Thengal Kacharis celebrate the calendrical festivals. The Durga Puja, Janmastami, Republic Day, Independence Day, Tithis of both the Mahapurushas are celebrated among the Thengal Kachari people.
