Part 1.9 - Description of Borsomon Puja
Borsomon Puja is performed with two beliefs. In one belief it is done by the hunters, elephant owners etc. so that they can safely move around in the jungle. They make seven shares in name of seven brothers of Borsomon i.e. Sadan Madan, Hosongkhuwa Hosongkhuri, Byai Burha Byai Burhi, Ahom Borabori, Selai Bheslai, Liglai Tiglai and set a pair of red hen free in the jungle. In another belief, if a person’s eyes turn red then a robha is made in the jungle and naam-kirtan is performed by offering maah-prasad, banana, and mithoi under a tree. By doing so the person gets relieve from his ailment.[1]
