This page relates 鈥楾he river Sarayu and its present status鈥� of the study on the rivers in ancient India as reflected in the Vedic and Puranic texts. 12. The river Sarayu and its present status
This river is found in some mantra of the 峁欢惫别诲补蝉补峁僪颈迟腻.[1] Sarayu is a very famous river in the 笔耻谤腻峁嘺蝉. Seven tributaries of 骋补峁単腻 originate from the golden peaks of the Himalayas and Sarayu is one of them. In the 笔耻谤腻峁嘺, it is said that those who bathe in the river will be absolved from all sins.[2] In modern times, the river Sarayu is known as 骋丑补谤驳丑补谤腻.
