I am not a Tamilian. However, Tamil is my foster mother as I live in Tamilnadu. I sing the glory of Mother Tamil (Thamizh Thay).
My Salutations to Thee, Mother Tamil,
Thou art bounteous and full of love,
Sweet of speech, and giver of boons,
As does the Tree Divine (Kalpavriksha),
A hundred thousand salutations:
O Thou Mother of Valluvar, the great sage,
Who sang in the sweetest language,
That service to man is worship of God,
That righteous living is service to Shiva,
My salutations to Thee, Mother Tamil:
O Thou, Mother of Kamba, the best of poets,
The greatest artist, the purest heart,
Who was told the story of Rama
In words of supreme beauty,
My salutations to Thee, Mother Tamil.
O Thou, Mother of Bharati, the people鈥檚 poet
Your beloved son, a great patriot,
Whose songs, full of progressive thoughts,
Roused the people to fight for freedom
My salutations to Thee, O Mother Tamil!
Bless your children, O Mother Tamil,
So that they may, inspired by high ideals,
Strive to establish a progressive society!
We offer you, O Mother, our worship with fragrant incense!
