Storm in a Strange Sea

Kishore Chandra Sahu (Akash) (Translated from Oriya by Brajakishore Das)

KISHORE CHANDRA SAHU (Akash)

After many a sand-storm subsided
Why have you come to see
My corpses;
Colourless and soundless
Like the statues of Ellora...!

Why have you come
At the final hours of many a bleeding
To taste the unholy holiness!

Why have you come
After many a tragedy ended
To set afloat;
The blossoms of unrealized dreams
Upon the city of tears!

After many a self-love was slaughtered
Why have you come
Mending your broken boats
And combing your unkempt hair;
To create a typhoon in faith
And annihilate the ocean of peace!
