Sermon in the Fall

Prof. Kota S. R. Sarma

’Tis Fall that’s colourful tongues in trees:
The Leaflet says, “We’re greenish still,
Our upper kin are turning gold.

“Oh, listen, they will not hide us away
From the Hand that pours the golden ray;
Who higher go can farther see,
And earlier leave for a safer place–
Untouched by the sulky icy hand
Than we, who’re made to understand;
We’ll also have exemplars pace.
