Danda-vivekea. Penal offences, the propriety of inflicting punish-
ment, and the different forms of punishment to be inflicted. By
Vardham谩na Mah谩mahop谩dhyaya, son of Bhave艣a. The author was
a native of the village of Vilvapa帽cha, and the Chief Justice in the
court of one of the chiefs of Tirhut. He says his work is founded
principally on the Kalpataru, K谩madhenu, H谩l谩yudh铆, Dharmakosha,
Smritis谩ra, Kirtyas谩gara, Ratn谩kara, P谩rij谩ta, Vyavah谩ra, Tilaka,
Pradipik谩, Pradipa and the original texts of Manu and Y谩j帽avalkya
with their commentaries. The codex is 223 years old.
