Bhakti-rasámrita-vindu. This also is a Vaishnava work, and treats
of faith in Krishna, who, it recommends, should be looked upon as
a master, a friend, a son, a parent, or a lover, according to one's feelings
and depth of devotion. It is an abridgement, by Vis'vanátha Chakra-
varti, of the great work of Jíva Gos'vámí on the subject-the Bhakti-
rasámrita-sindhu or the " ocean of the nectar of faith." Under instruc-
tion from Sanátana Gosvámi, Rúpa Gosvámí wrote the first work on the
topic, the Bhagavatámṛita, which describes the amours of Krishna at
Vrindávana as the most perfect manifestation of divine love on earth,
and says that the effect of the highest faith in man developes itself in
the form of love which the milkmaids of Vrindavana evinced towards
Krishna. Jíva Gosvámi and Raghunátha Dása compiled an abridgment
of this work, under the name of Bhagavatámrita kaná, and Visvánátha
Kavirája prepared a brief epitome of it, which is called Bágavatámrita-
kná-lesa. By the advice of Rúpa, Jíva also wrote a separate work,
