Bhakti-ras谩mrita-vindu. This also is a Vaishnava work, and treats
of faith in Krishna, who, it recommends, should be looked upon as
a master, a friend, a son, a parent, or a lover, according to one's feelings
and depth of devotion. It is an abridgement, by Vis'van谩tha Chakra-
varti, of the great work of J铆va Gos'v谩m铆 on the subject-the Bhakti-
ras谩mrita-sindhu or the " ocean of the nectar of faith." Under instruc-
tion from San谩tana Gosv谩mi, R煤pa Gosv谩m铆 wrote the first work on the
topic, the Bhagavat谩m峁沬ta, which describes the amours of Krishna at
Vrind谩vana as the most perfect manifestation of divine love on earth,
and says that the effect of the highest faith in man developes itself in
the form of love which the milkmaids of Vrindavana evinced towards
Krishna. J铆va Gosv谩mi and Raghun谩tha D谩sa compiled an abridgment
of this work, under the name of Bhagavat谩mrita kan谩, and Visv谩n谩tha
Kavir谩ja prepared a brief epitome of it, which is called B谩gavat谩mrita-
kn谩-lesa. By the advice of R煤pa, J铆va also wrote a separate work,
