manuscript-tradition of the various versions of our Purāṇa. The
task of the critical editor and the text-critic should be to indicate
in his adopted text the various stages of development or growth
of the text, for which he has to use some suitable device as
suggested above.
I have thus tried here to place before the scholars a few
suggestions for dealing with the additional texts of the manuscripts
in the constituted text of a Purāṇa. Comments and suggestions
from scholars interested in the problem are welcome.
