The rest of the metres also, which occur in the ٳⲹ,
are to be found in these chapters, reduced in the above way. A
comparison with the edition of the text shows an almost complet
agreement between the ٳⲹ and ʲ峾ܰṇa VI, 189,
4-194, 106. Only a few additional verses, which are to be found
in some manuscripts, are also taken in the edition of the Padma-
purāṇa. It is evident from various passages that the Bhāgavata
purāṇa in its present form was known to the authors of the
ʲ峾ܰṇa VI. It is expressly stated in the ʲ峾ܰṇa VI
that the 岵ٲܰṇa consists of 18000 verses and 12 books
(grantho 'stādaśasahasro dvādaśas kandhasamy uta� 191, 28. of
193, 52, 194, 105).
The table and the register of metres are presented in the
following pages with the hope that these might help many a
researcher in saving time and energy.
