. वृत्त्यनुप्रासःः
[ṛtٲⲹԳܱḥḥ
] The Vṛttyanuprāsa is the repetition of even the one consonant more
than once. It is the similarity of one or several consonants, twice or
several times. 2
जग्राह स्फुरदरचक्रमेष चक्र� चक्राङ्गप्रतिमरुचं � पाञ्चजन्यम� �
कोदण्ड� विजमरिषण्डदत्तदण्ड� दोर्दण्डैरकृपणविक्रम� कृपाणम� ।। [ [jagrāha sphuradaracakrameṣa cakra� cakrāṅgapratimaruca� ca pāñcajanyam |
kodaṇḍa� vijamariṣaṇḍadattadaṇḍa� dordaṇḍairakṛpaṇavikrama� kṛpāṇam || [] VII.3]
In this verse, the first line contains a repetition of a sound five
times, similarly in the second line 3' sound four times, & sound five
times, and in the whole verse '�' sound is repeated nine times. Therefore,
it is an example of Vṛttyanuprāsa.
Another example may be given as below:
अल� प्रपञ्चे� विलासिनीजन� सहामुन� द्वारवतीपुरे पप� �
सुरा� सुवेषः सुरराजमन्दिर� सुधा� जयन्ते� यथाप्सरोगत� � � [ [ala� prapañcena vilāsinījana� sahāmunā dvāravatīpure papau |
surā� suveṣa� surarājamandire sudhā� jayantena yathāpsarogata� | | [ ] V. 54]
In this example, the first line repeats '�' sound five times, '�' sound
four times; similarly, in the second line '�' sound repeats five times, '�'
sound five times. Hence, it is also an example of Vṛttyanuprāsa.
There are many verses exemplifying a mixture of more than one
