Malayalam Sthalapurana is the earliest translation of SSM to Malayalam. Author of the work is vaikkathu pachumuttethu, the earliest historical of Travancore and who was the illustrious ancestor of vatteppalli Sthanikkar. Story of Sucindram in Keralamāhātmya Keralamāhātmya, one of the prominent legendary source of South Indian history deals the story of Sucindram in two chapters. Eventhough Keralamāhātmya gives the description of somany temple, the only the story of sucindram temple have such a detailed description. Chapter 83 and 84 of Keralamaheatmya has given the name sucindram sthalamāhātmya. The work is in the form of the dailoguebetween the sage galga and yudhistira. It is written in Anustup metere. Chapter 83 have 32 verse and 84 have 23. A brief summary of the contence of both chapters is given below. Chapter 83 Sucindrathalamāhātmyam. O pandva! I will told the glory of Sucindram. This was the scene of the well-known incident of the purification of Indra by Trimurtis. Cursed by the sage gautama. Indra went to the holy hermitage of Dattatraya, which is situated at the slope of the mountain mahendra, and lived there. Once the sage Nārada tried to make love to Naramohana, the daughter of Dattatreya and wife sage Sandilya but he was rejected by her. Nārada become furious and decided to take revenge upon her.
