One should wear a single ṣa-bead over the tuft and wear three hundred over the head; he should place thirty six ܻṣa beads should be worn around the neck (as a necklace), sixteen beads in each of the two forearms (as armlets), twelve beads around each of the two wrists of the hands (as bracelets) and five hundred beads around the shoulders (encircling the armpit). A garland of one hundred and eight beads should be worn, like a sacred thread. The garland worn around the neck as a necklace should have 2.3.5, or 7 stands running parallel to each other.
The beads can be worn as ear-studs, ear-rings and as crown jewels on the head.
[...] ܻṣajābāla 貹Ծṣa verse 21
Beads threaded together in a special cord should always be worn as arm band and waist band, whether the wearer is awake or asleep (i.e. at all times)
Wearing one thousand beads is regarded as the best, five hundred beads as medium or mediocre, and three hundred beads are regarded as most lowly. Hence, one should be aware of this while wearing them.[1]
