chapter II Major goddesses 120 repeatedly asked by Siva, Visnu with single minded devotion meditates on Lalita and assumes a matchless miraculous form of a woman -known as Mohini or the bewitcher. Goddess-Attendants. 186 The Brahmanda Purana mentions the names of the attendents waiting on the Goddess, they are Tantrini and Yantrini. â– Tantrini is the personified female form of all the tantras and who is adept in the practice of these secret lores. â– Yantrini is the personified female form of all the yantras and who is adept in the knowledge with regard to the making and function of the yantras. Conclusion. The goddess Lalita is presented in a di-functional model. As the wife of Siva she is comely and an ideal of the household. Durga is the model of a devoted, loving and caring mother of not only her children but also of the entire world. This is well represented in her idols as a wife which depict her as having two hands and the idol of her child is placed between her and her spouse which is indicatory of prosperity and welfare oriented role. In her adverse role, she is the goddess of destruction, a divinity in frenzy and anger. This is 186 Brd.P.5.46
