This is an English study of the Brahmapurana鈥攐ne of the eighteen major Puranas which occupies an important place in the Pauranic literature. This study researches the rich an encyclopaedic material for social, religious, philosophical, mythological, political, geographical and literary study found in the Brahma-Purana.

worshipped Siva on the bank of Godavari to get a cakra (109.47).
Pippalada worshipped Siva on the bank of the river Godavari
(110.99).. The good deeds done in this birth or in the previous
one give complete rewards on the bank of Godavari (122.91). By
the grace of the river Godavari one gets all the desired
objects (123.169). The whole Gautami-mahatmya is in the honour
of the river Godavari (A.70-175).

(27.54).
