Other details.

(i) Once Maitreya went to ±á²¹²õ³Ù¾±²ÔÄå±è³Ü°ù²¹ and told Duryodhana that he should behave kindly to the ±ÊÄåṇḲ¹±¹²¹²õ. Duryodhana who did not much relish the advice sat tapping on his thighs with his hands, not seriously attending to the sage. Maitreya was displeased at the discourtesy and cursed that µþ³óÄ«³¾²¹ would one day break Duryodhana’s thighs. (See under Duryodhana).

(ii) Maitreya was a courtier of ³Û³Ü»å³ó¾±á¹£á¹­³ó¾±°ù²¹. (Åš±ô´Ç°ì²¹ 10, Chapter 4, ³§²¹²ú³óÄå Parva).

(iii) Maitreya was one among the sages who visited µþ³óīṣm²¹ while he was lying on his bed of arrows. (Åš±ô´Ç°ì²¹ 6, Chapter 43, ÅšÄå²Ô³Ù¾± Parva).

(iv) Once he discussed with ³Õ²âÄå²õ²¹ topics on Dharma. (Chapter 120, ´¡²Ô³ÜÅ›Äå²õ²¹²Ô²¹ Parva).

(v) When SrÄ« °­á¹›á¹£á¹‡a died, the spiritualistic ideology of Dharmaputra became more dominant and he approached Vidura for DharmopadeÅ›a. Vidura sent him to Maitreya. Dharmaputra went to the Āś°ù²¹³¾²¹ of Maitreya on the banks of the river ³Ò²¹á¹…gÄå and after paying respects to him accepted DharmopadeÅ›a (Instruction in law, duty and morals) from him.
