Birth.

础峁単颈谤补蝉, the son of 叠谤补丑尘腻, had two sons, Utathya and 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈. One day when Utathya was away from home, 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈 approached his elder brother鈥檚 wife, 惭补尘补迟腻, who was pregnant at the time, and tried to have sexual union with her. But she tried to dissuade him and said鈥�"The child in my womb, born from Utathya鈥檚 semen has already mastered Vedas and Ved膩峁僩as. Your semen is also equally powerful. How can my womb bear the combined force of the two semens? So please refrain from this attempt of yours." But even after hearing these words of his sister-in-law, 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈 was not able to control his passions. At the time of the intercourse, when the semen of 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈 entered the womb, the child within it cried out鈥�"Father ! this passion is improper. Two persons have no place here. So withdraw your semen." 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈 did not heed the request. The child in the womb repelled the semen that entered the womb with his foot and it dropped on the floor. 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈 who became angry, cursed the child. As a result, the boy was born blind. He got the name "顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉" because he was born blind. (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 膧诲颈 Parva, Chapter 104).

Family Life.

In brilliance of parts, 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉* equalled 叠峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈. 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉, who was born blind, married Pradve峁�i, a 叠谤腻丑尘补峁嚹�. The couple had many children, chief of whom was Gautama. But after the birth of the children, D墨rghatmas fell into evil ways and became an object of hatred and contempt. The inmates of 腻艣谤补尘补蝉 dubbed him a sinner. His wife, was disgusted with him. One day, the enraged 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉, in his fury cursed women as a whole and Pradve峁Ｄ� could not control her anger. She, with the help of Gautama and other sons made a raft and placing 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉 on it, floated it down the river 骋补峁単腻. The King Bali happened to see the raft floating down the river. He sent men to bring the boat to the bank. The King recognized 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉 and asked the Muni to beget brilliant and intelligent children by his queen. 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉 agreed and the King sent the queen 厂耻诲别峁ａ箛腻 to him. The queen who did not find pleasure in the company of the blind and decrepit Muni sent a nurse to him. The nurse bore to him Kak峁Ｄ玽膩n and ten other sons all of whom became great scholars. After some years the King came to know that the mother of those boys was the nurse. Then he sent 厂耻诲别峁ａ箛腻 again to the Muni. 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉, after touching her body blessed her and five sons, 础峁単补, 痴补峁単补, 碍补濒颈峁単补, 笔耻峁囜笉谤补 and 艢耻峁単补 were born to her. They founded five Kingdoms which were known by their names respectively. They are known by their modern names: Bh膩galpura, Beng膩l, 膧苍诲丑谤补, R膩jas膩hi and T膩mravika.

Other details.

(1) 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉 had another wife named U艣ik. (峁欢惫别诲补, 1st 惭补峁囜笉补濒补, 16th Anuv膩ka, 112th 厂奴办迟补.)

(2) 顿墨谤驳丑补迟补尘补蝉 continues to be in the assembly of Indra offering worship to him (Indra). (惭补丑腻产丑腻谤补迟补 艢abh膩 Parva, Chapter 7, Verse 11).
